Women Helping Women (WHW)
“WHW is an impactful, empowering, and change-focused agency serving Hamilton, Butler, Brown, and Adams counties. WHW's mission is to prevent gender-based violence and empower ALL survivors.
The agency was founded in 1973 and is an expert in their field. WHW provides crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, including a 24 hour crisis hotline, court advocacy, 24 hour hospital response, in person crisis counseling and support groups, and safety planning. WHW also provides prevention education programming in local schools and educates local organizations and businesses about gender based violence and how to effectively support survivors. The agency is in a great period of growth with a 60% increase in services in the past three years—that includes serving over 12,500 community members in 2015! With your help, we can continue to serve the community to PREVENT gender based violence and to EMPOWER all survivors. Thank you so much for your support!”
The Sister Accord Foundation
The Sister Accord Foundation has 3 areas of focus: educating girls and women, enlightening girls and women of the Power of Sisterhood and eradicating bullying and violence against girls and women. Founder Sonia Jackson Myles' vision is to have 1 billion girls and women learn how to love themselves and extend love to each other. Mean girls grow up to be mean women if there is no intervention. The Sister Accord is the intervention. Sonia's Sister A.C.C.O.R.D. Leadership Development Program has now been integrated into Cincinnati Public School's curriculum. This is significant because, prior to this partnership, the district never had a Leadership Development Program for girls.
